Nur-Sultan, June 18, House of Mazhilis. Today, Chairman of the Chamber, Nurlan Nigmatulin, met with Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of a number of foreign countries in Mazhilis.

             At the meeting with Ambassador of Turkmenistan, Toyly Komekov, the parties discussed the issues of bilateral cooperation, first of all, between parliamentarians, as well as in trade and economic, fuel and energy, transport, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

             The interlocutors stressed out that the basis for the development of bilateral relations was laid by the First President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow.

             N. Nigmatulin and T. Komekov focused on the importance of the implementation of such major projects as the Turkmenistan – Uzbekistan – Kazakhstan - China gas pipeline, the Kazakhstan – Turkmenistan – Iran railway, the signing of the historical Convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea for the entire Central Asian region.

             Chairman of Mazhilis also spoke in favor of expanding relations between the special committees of parliamentarians and cooperation groups to exchange experience in law-making.

             According to Nurlan Nigmatulin, the development of inter-parliamentary dialogue will be facilitated by the participation of the delegation of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan in the IV Meeting of Speakers of the Eurasian Countries’ Parliaments themed “Greater Eurasia: Dialogue. Trust. Partnership”, which will be held on September 23-24 in Nur-Sultan.

             Strengthening of inter-parliamentary cooperation in the interests of peoples was brought up again in the conversation of the Speaker of Mazhilis with the Armenian Ambassador Gagik Ghalachyan.

             The delegation of the National Assembly of Armenia headed by the Chairman of the Parliament confirmed its participation in the forum in Nur-Sultan.

             During the meeting, Nurlan Nigmatulin and Gagik Ghalachyan also mentioned the close interaction of Kazakhstan and Armenia in the framework of integration associations in the Eurasian space, which opens up great opportunities for cooperation of the parliamentarians.

             Speaking with the Ambassador of India to Kazakhstan Prabhat Kumar on the development of inter-parliamentary relations, Chairman of Mazhilis noted that the study of Indian experience in the field of innovation, high technology, as well as the use of renewable energy sources is of practical interest. 

             During the meeting, the parties noted as well the importance of the documents signed within the framework of the SCO Summit in Bishkek, allowing to bring cooperation within the Organization to a qualitatively new level.
