Timely assistance is provided to flood victims – deputies of the Mazhilis


 Astana, April 6, the House of the Mazhilis. Deputies of the Mazhilis continue to work with the population in flood-affected regions. Currently, the situation is stabilizing, the necessary assistance is being received in the settlements, work continues on water drainage and evacuation of residents.

Majilisman Nurzhan Ashimbetov met with residents of Pavlodar region and representatives of departmental structures of the region. The deputy got acquainted with the situation in the villages of Mynkul and Petropavlovsk. The consequences of the flood are being dealt with here by the joint efforts of rescuers, local authorities and residents themselves. Akimats of districts and villages are taking the necessary measures to eliminate the consequences of flooding and restore damaged infrastructure.

The flood threat also persists in the Kostanay region. This week, deputy of the Mazhilis Olzhas Kuspekov arrived in the region. He examined flood-prone areas and border areas.

 – In Kostanay, work continues to eliminate the consequences of the flood. Volunteers, government agencies and party members are preparing flood control measures on the city's embankments. Work is actively underway to strengthen the bulk embankment, more than 1,000 bags of inert material have been harvested and about 700 bags of inert material have been laid, the deputy said.

The Majilisman also visited the dormitory of the Kostanay College of Motor Transport and checked it for readiness to accommodate flood victims. The deputy noted that in order to implement comprehensive measures to ensure the safe passage of floods, timely financing of measures to clean riverbeds, strengthen protective dams, repair emergency hydraulic structures is necessary.

Today, the deputy from the single-mandate district Abzal Kuspan also visited a warehouse of humanitarian aid to flood victims in the West Kazakhstan region. According to the deputy and volunteers, about 10 tons of food and basic necessities have arrived in Uralsk. Assistance continues to come from residents and entrepreneurs of the region and other regions of the country. All this is distributed among the population in the areas of flooding. Aid is being delivered by helicopter to settlements whose roads are washed away by water. Communication with all residents is maintained through official chats of akimats, through volunteers and rescuers. Deputy Abzal Kuspan will remain in the region until the situation stabilizes.

An increased threat remains in the Atyrau region. Due to an increase in the water level in the Zhem River, 2,680 residential and administrative buildings were flooded in the Zhylyoy district. An alert in connection with the flood danger has been declared in the city of Kulsary.

In this regard, the deputy of the Mazhilis Duisenbai Turganov went to Kulsary to participate in flood control events. First of all, he met with the residents of the village of Karaton, who participated in the strengthening of the dam.

— The government is promptly taking all necessary measures to eliminate the consequences of the flood. A republican headquarters has been established, headed by the Prime Minister. Both the head of Government, his deputies, and the Minister of Emergency Situations are touring the affected regions. All rescue operations are under the personal control of the Head of State," Duisenbai Turganov said.

The evacuation of residents of the city of Kulsary continues. A total of 15,632 people have been evacuated since April 5, 5,055 of them children. Some of the evacuated residents of Kulsary voluntarily left for the settlements of the Mangystau region to visit relatives. 

Work on strengthening dams is intensifying. A total of 45,902 bags and 174,342 tons of inert material were packed from April 1 to April 6.

The deputy of the Mazhilis also got acquainted with the work of the headquarters for ensuring public safety in the city of Kulsary, met with the deputy akim of the district.

Currently, 559 employees, 148 pieces of equipment, 2 watercraft and 500 volunteers are involved in the region.
