MPs are concerned about the scale of the new wave of floods

April 14, Atyrau region. The trips of the deputies of the Mazhilis to the flooded regions are continuing. Yedil Zhanbyrshin, Abzal Kuspan, Rinat Zaitov, Maksat Tolykbayev and Nartai Sarsengaliyev visited the city of Atyrau, Makhambet district and the city of Kulsary.

The Majilismen took part in flood control events in Atyrau region, met with residents of flooded settlements, visited affected areas and villages.

At a meeting with residents of the village of Almaly, who are preparing for the arrival of large amounts of water from the Urals, Nartai Sarsengaliyev stressed that the main task for today is to ensure the survival of populated areas in the conditions of a new wave of floods.

- The Ural River rises by 20 centimeters per day. Now Almaly is surrounded by a dam, turning the village into an island. The water comes with such pressure that it can bring down even stone barriers. Before that, we visited the Makhambet district, he will be the first to take a blow. There are 21 settlements in the area, 17 villages are located right near the Urals," Nartai Sarsengaliev said.

Mazhilis deputy Maksat Tolykbai is also concerned about the pressure of the war coming from the territory of Russia, stressing that the West Kazakhstan region will be the first to face difficulties. He focused on the events to save Atyrau.

- A 21-kilometer dam is currently under construction, surrounding the Ural Delta. Time is short. The work is carried out day and night. The military was mobilized. Entrepreneurs are actively involved, including by manufacturing machinery. We are grateful to our fellow deputies who help with their own funds, residents of Atyrau, Almala, Isatai, Makhambet and other villages. The AMANAT party also organizes the supply of food, bags, additional labor, equipment,– Maksat Tolykbai said.

At a meeting with residents of Kulsary, Yedil Zhanbyrshin stressed the need for a joint way out of this difficult situation. He urged people not to spread disinformation and to trust only official sources.

In addition, the deputies examined the flooded houses and conveyed the questions and wishes of their residents to the akim of Atyrau region.

- A special commission should involve local activists and do its work efficiently. The commission should evaluate residential buildings as quickly and in detail as possible, – said Edil Zhanbyrshin.

It is worth noting that as a result of the natural disaster in Kulsary, 2,400 houses were flooded, of which more than 200 collapsed. Today, the water level in the city has dropped to 60 cm. Currently, work is underway in the city to drain flooded houses. 58 pieces of equipment and 50 people are involved in this, 7,800 cubic meters of water have been pumped out.
